It’s very satisfying to hear patients say that they appreciate me because I was able to help them and make them feel better.”
Susan Munroe MS, FNP
Susan Munroe is one of Chelmsford Family Practice’s nurse practitioners. One role of the nurse practitioner is to educate patients and help them understand and manage their own treatment; a second role is to diagnose and treat more common illnesses. Much like a doctor, nurse practitioners are licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to prescribe medications and order necessary medical tests.
Susan’s work often involves prescribing medication, appropriate diets, exercise and therapy. She performs school and camp physicals, sees and treats sick patients, performs annual gynecological exams with pap smears and orders mammograms.
Susan enjoys taking the time to understand each patient, the patient’s health history and the patient’s family health situation. She’s a friend to her young patients and makes an effort to speak with them privately – apart from parents – about their health and wellness concerns. She counsels teens, answering their questions and helping them with any long term diet or preventative health issues.
